Lurking around on CL in I stumbled accross this 1974 Yamaha MX100 and couldn't pass it up!! I borrowed from the sock drawer fund and picked it up after work. It doesn't run and it needs quite a bit of work, but these things are really hard to find so I knew I had to pull the trigger!! I eventually plan to race the Marty Tripes 100CC Works Revenge Class with CMC, I don't know if that will happen this year, but I'm going to atleast try to get it running for the Hell On Wheels Vintage MX Rally in June!! Check out the rear folding foot pegs and the foam fork guards!!

A friend of mine had one when I was growing up. It was no where as sweet as that one though! Nice find!

Looks like a "diamond in the rough".

Will look great sitting next to the 360.

Cool little bike. They were notorious for breaking the LH (ignition side) of the crankshaft off, though.

Who would be the person to get ahold of as far as making this MX100 competitive in the Works 100cc Class? I don't have a bunch of money to throw at it, but I'd like to know some tricks, basically how I can modify it and keep within the rules for that class. I would like to modify the suspension, maybe adopting a set of forks from a MX125? And possibly leaning the shocks forward...etc etc.

Thanks!

Will a 76-77(?) YZ100 top end fit? Will the internals of a 74-75 YZ125 fit in the cases? Better ratios maybe. Use a front end from a 74 YZ250/360 , 75 MX250/400 on it. Does the MX100 use a 19 inch front wheel??

I think it would be worth a phone call to Rick Hovat, he always has bitchin' stories and a wealth of knowledge. Maybe even a phone call to Vance at Q&E, hell how about Jerry Curl?!! I'd like to think a 74-75 YZ125 engine would fit, then I could just sleeve it down to 100cc. A top end off of a 76-77 YZ100 would be illegal I believe?

I need to take the front end off of my MX360 to install the RT emulators, so I could try to see how it would work on the MX100?! It would be nice to have a bigger drum up front. Any ideas on modifying the rear end / suspension, maybe leaning the shocks forward?

Here are the rules below...Can anyone tell what rule I'm already breaking?!! hahahaha

A friend of mine just called me, he was doing a roofing estimate for a guys garage, when they went inside the garage they found a 1973 Yamaha LT2 100 which is basically an MX 100 (correct me if I'm wrong)!! He said the guy is wiling to sell it, so he's gonna give him a break on the price if the guy will give him the bike!!

100CC Works Revenge here we come!!

Anyone going this sunday to Marty Tripes / CMC at Elsinore?
