Hi

I have a one time used silencer for that bike, it was removed the first week the bike was bought and replaced with an FMF one
the item number on eBay is 132200722939 if you like it I could remove it and take the 10% off that eBay charges me

Thanks I'll keep that in mind.. the one I have is in perfect shape except for the fact someone must have flipped the bike back and it scraped the tip of the muffler where the exhaust comes out. I'm gonna see if I can work it back into shape or grind a little off but if it doesn't turn out the way I'd like it I'll probably grab the one from you.

Hi Guys

Ok, the RM80D 1983 is finally done!
After grinding down all the pitted parts of the exhaust pipe I could finally use some high-temperature primer and paint to bring this pipe back to life
Here are some pictures of the process of the pipe restoration and of the bike all done
After the holidays I will start the restoration of the RM80C 1978, so Happy Holidays to all of the VItal MX old school board members

Incredible work! Your attention to detail is amazing. Can you tell me where you got the pink vent tubing from? Thanks!

Fantastic job, incredible attention to detail. The 83 RM80 was my first motorcycle, wish I could put one together like what you have done. Awesome, awesome work!

Amazing work on that exhaust pipe! I thought it was finished(still abit pitted) and you would fit it like that and also did a good job on it- then I scrolled down the pics more and saw the end result after final paint jobs! What a finish despite the pitting- Incredible work.
After seeing the orange plastic throttle cover(pics)- I had an 83 D model back in the day and forgot how that original throttle looked with that orange cover- bought back some good racing memories!
Well done! Lovely bike and era.

Malcolmedo-
Far be it for me to nitpick such a beautiful restoration, but I believe you have an '84 seat cover on that fine specimen. I'm only mentioning it because you appear to have an era-perfect restoration otherwise.
The '83 looked like my old '82 (RM in outlines, no mention of displacement,) except in blue instead of black. See below:

Hi Falcon

what I have is exactly an 84/85 Nos seat assy, I could not find yet a Nos 83 seat assy and I did not want to use a replica seat cover on my old seat base and pan
So still looking for that 83 seat, this is a picture of the correct seat I need owned by a friend in Australia

Years back I dupicated several seat covers for my bikes as there was none on market for them,,or the ones out there had extra seams or logos. It isn't that big a deal,,finding a vinyl that matches the grain and color at local uphoulstry shop..,,stitching the cover together same as stock, no goofy seams on side. Then have the logo duplicated in reverse 'light tack' sticker to use as a stencil to spray. My local sign shop created mine from measuring my old seat cover (or pictures). There is a few tricks to getting a nice crisp look on the vinyl but for ease here,I used paint and prep materials mixed at local autobody supplier. . I sold a few 10-18 years back on ebay. You probably already now,,but for others- 83 RMs used a dark blue cover, not black as 82 and before,,or lighter blue 84 up. Many images make them look black but they where a royal blue.
Hope this helps

He's attention to detail is incredible. Very hard to emulate his work. I have tried to build to his standard but he is on another level..
