I am going to be designing a fork brace like team Suzuki ran in the 97 Supercross season. If anyone else is interested maybe we can get a better deal on the parts if we order a higher quantity. I will model it up in Solidworks and post some images of the models when they are complete. If anyone is interested let me know.
How has it go with the fork brace? Any pictures? I am going to do a Greg Albertyn replica and have started to collect parts for the build and the fork brace sounds interesting.

Hey guys, sorry for the delayed response. My project funding has stalled a bit and I have been pretty busy at work. I have been trying to find a good picture of the brace used in 97. I found some action shots of MC and Alby that I zoomed in on. They are kinda blurry and hard to make out the details of the brace. This is what I have come up with so far. The model still needs a little tweaking. Once i'm happy with the design I will 3D print it and test fit the brace on my bike.

These are the pics I was working with. If you have a better one please post it.

The left fork leg has the brake line routing. I still need to determine how the line is held near the brace. I found the pic below of Alby's bike when it was at ProCircuit. It is hard to see how the line is clamped though.

That looks awesome! I bet the line is held like the stock white guides, but I dont know that for sure.

That modelling looks awesome so far, good job! I think that bike is still in the PC showroom? If you email PC and ask nicely i'm sure they'd take some close ups of the bracket for you. If not, let me know and i'll see if my friend is going by the showroom sometime soon to take pics.

Thanks Chuck, your engine covers are trick. I stopped into PC last fall after the GRC final in LA. I looked around the showroom and did not see Alby's bike. But there is a chance its in a hallway somewhere in the building. The girl at the front desk that day had no interest in setting up a tour, still bummed about that. If you have a connection there it would be great if they could get a picture looking down from the top.

Thanks FJ, this pic is helpful. Did you happen to take this? The lighting in this picture is better than the ones I have been working with. It looks like the brace is thinner than I originally thought.

Where did you find that shift pedal? OEM? I am after one without the rubber on it.

It's a MSR one that I took the logo off of. I liked the clean look of it

My 97 rm250 is the one bike I regret selling a few years ago. Best seating position ever, looked great, and snappy power.

That bike is definitely at PC. Is in not on display in the lobby though, it was in a second story area that has a few older bikes sitting around, such as Adam Cianciarulo's supermini and the KX 125 Jake Weimer and Ivan Tedesco raced over the last few years. That KX125 is now on the showroom floor as is a work of art!

But dont they always before you really start? I know how good you make your builds. Another SoT bike is always a good thing.

Thanks Bman. True. These builds are always a ton of work. I agree though, another SOT bike would be nice to have. The seat cover will be the hardest part to find I think.

A few updates on this project. The build is almost done. I have had a lot of work done to get reproduction graphics made, and after quite a few notes back and forth, they should be complete in the next few weeks. Thank you to Matt and Wes at Throttle Jockey.

Frame

Motor. Case and covers powder coated

Progress. It took awhile but I got both top and bottom applied clamps.

I got the yellow front plate thanks to harescrambled and quicken.

I cut the front fender like the Suzuki teams did back then. Matthes talked to RT to confirm they did it to help stop the bikes from overheating.

The biggest update is that I was super lucky to have a fellow SoT bike builder help me get a seat cover for the bike. So thank you again to jerry atrick moto! Still can't fully believe this really happened.
Please check your pm , I'm looking for that seat cover bud , Tia phil

Seat cover is an original. I couldnt find a company that would attempt to make a replica.

I was talking to the Throttle Jockey dudes at red bud this year, and they said Charles Schultz' son was the one that contacted them to re-make those SoT graphics and had the first set because he was making a Mc Rm replica.

100MX, I think we did start with yours, so thanks for that, but there were a lot of little details that I wanted done to make it more accurate. Also there were some errors in that version, for example, look in the mouth of the dragon. The red from the tongue sticks out. I only saw it when my first printing came in.

Here is a more updated version of my edits
