15 CRF450R clutch

I'm knew to the 450 world I have a 2015 crf450r, I bought it used from a dealer, when I was riding yesterday roughly 30 minutes in the woods just up and down a trail to get used to the bike I noticed my clutch started feeling different. when I got home I let it cool down and played with the clutch adjustment. No matter how tight or loose the clutch was it would not fully disengage and with a one finger pull as it was touching my other fingers, when I clicked it in gear it would want to start pulling. can click into first pick up the rear end and tire starts spinning not just a little spin but between 3-5 mph spin. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

My first guess would be clutch springs. You might have worn plates though too. Take em out and measure the thickness to see if theyre in spec. Also look for notches in the basket.

I was thinking that might be the issue, also was thinking maybe I just had a stretched cable. could that be a problem

Could be. Are your adjusters maxed out?

I ran the perch adjuster all the way out and didn’t try it all the way tight, I was reading and I had read that you want slack in the cable or when the oil gets hot it won’t fully disengage the clutch, and it makes it super hard to pull in the lever when it’s tight. I have yet to figure out how to adjust the cable at the actuator. I have read that the stock clutches on this year model are bad about going out. I’m just afraid I’m goin to have to replace the entire clutch, that means sh** tons of many to do. How do I adjust it at the actuator ?

Lol thanks I’m used to the older style bikes that what I had before this it still had old xr tech on it I just don’t wont to screw anything up.

Nope! Basket, inner hub, and pressure plate should all be fine; Inspect each, of course, but there shouldn't be any catastrophic wear seeing that it's relatively new. Usually notching on the basket 'fingers' occurs first, but seeing that yours is a 6-spring setup and not the infamous 4-spring, I'm assuming you'll be good for a bit

#1 cause of creep is notched basket or notched inner hub. Replacing plates and springs ain't going to fix that.

#2 cause is warped plates. But that is unlikely.

Before you order any parts you need to open it up and inspect everything and determine which parts you need first. It's a waste to throw new plates and springs in a notched basket.
