Have a rm125 i recently went through top to bottom to lube and inspect, didn’t notice any issues. Not sure if it was there to begin with but when it’s on the stand and I grab the rear wheel there is noticeable play up and down that seems to be from either the upper or lower shock. Is this normal or should I look into replacing the upper and lower shock bearings. Shock was just at factory Connection for a rebuild and they said the bearings were good.

Replace whatever is worn. Easy way to tell is to put a finger on the bearing surface and move the wheel up and down. If there's play you'll feel it.

There should not be any play in any direction on the shock. I would be suspect of the linkage bearings.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve ordered new bearings already as a precaution. Was honestly hoping to not tear it back down again so soon but it is what it is. Thanks again.

Unless it's excessive, I wouldn't worry. All showa shocks have a small amount of play in the top bearing. When multiply that by the linkage ratio, it's enough to feel when lifting the wheel
