2018 CRF250R Clutch Perch

I noticed this on Transworld's intro pics of the bike. What is this second line going into the clutch perch behind the adjuster wheel?

If I had to guess I would say its a sensor? Maybe you have to have the clutch pulled in for the e-start to work?

I believe that's correct. I think I recall someone referencing a clutch safety on the optional e-start kit for the '17 450R. Another "thank a lawyer" piece of stupidity.

Yeah I heard Keefer say that on his pod cast. The 2018 250 and 450 must have the clutch pulled in for E-start to work If the bike is in gear or not.

easy to just take that wire and ground it out somewhere or make a dummy switch hidden so no one can start it

Yea its for the electric start to work, you can I belive take the two wires going in there and put them together, to make it no longer needed and run any lever/perch

yes, did that on my '17 that I put the estart on. male/female connectors down by the diagnostic port, just connect them together.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was a sensor that logged data on a how much/often the rider uses the clutch. I'm only kidding... but...

Did you see the Pit Bits from the All Japan Nationals?? So, many, sensors, on, EVERYTHING! All about that data bro..

So why is this not on the Huskies and KTMs? A freind of mine tipped over and broke the clutch lever off at the perch. He happened to leave the kicker in place though so he was able to get started.

to my knowledge, KTMs don't require the clutch to be pulled in to start, thats why. But I could be wrong.

I bet it's an insurence or liability thing from Honda. Like in your car, some need to push the clutch in or have your foot on the brake to start.
