2019 CRF450R with 30 hours with no fire. Electric start is working and wants to turn over but there is nothing there.
Just installed a new kill switch as I know this is a common issue, but didn't resolve the problem. Bike started up perfectly fine after I washed it, but as soon as I gave it a shot of gas it died and has not started since.
Valves were checked less than 5 hours ago and were perfect.
Going to check the spark plug next, but thought maybe someone has run into this issue that could guide me in the right direction.

This was mine at 35 hrs
Have you checked the Kill Switch I have heard of those being a problem.
The Shop
Only engine problems I had.
What causes the fuel filter to get like that? I ride at a very silty/sandy track and somehow have been getting dirt past the air filter and into the filter box.
One of my riding buddies had a corroded wire for the kill switch as well, but there was no fire at all from his bike when that happened. The starter works, but there is no fire/wants to turn over.
Bike is getting fuel. Compression is normal. Valves are in spec. Spark plug is fine.
Next step is hooking it up to see if any codes were stored.
It wants to fire up, but something isn’t engaging. We got it to backfire a bit but never rolled over.
Also, reset your TPS. To do that, hold the killswitch and roll the bike over with nothing else touched. Then do the exact thing but with the throttle wide open.
I’ve been through 2 killswitches and have eliminated the stock smart-killswitch all together.
Other than that, I would unplug everything in front of the air filter and look for corrosion, then reconnect with dielectric grease.

Definitely a winter project for now. Beyond bummed.
Sounds excessive to jump to “engine needs to come apart”. Did they give you a reason they came to this conclusion?
Pit Row
The owner didn’t charge me for the time they worked on it. They are also not taking it apart as I have someone I deal with outside of shop hours. I was actually really impressed compared to previous dealerships I’ve been to in the past. They brought me right in and showed me what they were doing. I’m by far no mechanic so a lot of this stuff was over my head that they dummied down for me.
I hear where you guys are coming from though. I was going to put new piston and rings in it this winter anyways...just a bummer it ended up this way.
I have the exact same problem, same connector is broken. Were you able to repair the connection and get the original pump working or did you have to buy a new pump assembly all together?
Also, this is my first EFI bike so I’m wondering how common is this? This was a pretty shitty bike failure for me because the bike cut out on the face of a jump and resulted in a nasty concussion. Luckily no broken bones.
