Just picked up a 2017 yz450f. Trying to get the bike set up before I hit the track. Curious what position you guys use for the bar mounts. Went and messed around on the bike in the woods and in the 2nd position( closest holes to the rider and the mounts turned more toward the front. Felt a bit cramped for me. I'm coming off a kx250f. Curious what position you guys run. Im 5 foot 10. I rather leave the bars in the spot that gives me the best handling. Bike already seems a bit difficult when it comes to initiating turns.
I dont own a yamaha so cant help with the bar thing.
Biggest change in turning was sending my suspension to enzo. Springs for my weight and they did a lowering plate in the rear shock. Helped the turning out a lot. Way better than before and I didn't even really struggle with the turning to start with.
I'm more concerned that the bar position in position 3 will have any negative effects in the handling compared to position 2.

That's understandable about your worry of position 3, but for me it really helped out a lot. Opened things up a little more and helped with the turning
Bars in the 3rd position (front holes bar clamps back)
6'3 155-160 25+ 30+ B
Turns great for me.
