Can 2017 YZ450f Front Brake Master bolt right on to a 98 YZ250?

I was recently checking out a buddies 2017 YZ450f and his oem front brake perch and master setup is a lot better than my spare 98 yz250. I find the 98 YZ lever, once squeezed gets too close to the handlebar and my other fingers.
I do not have this issue on my ktm brembo as the lever is further away and by far my preference.

If it works out id think its a pretty cool trick part because that lever position makes me really remember its a bike from 1998.

nope.. I had a 2016 when I was rebuilding a 97 yz250. I tried to transfer it.

However you can use 2016 triple clamps, forks & then use the brake setup

I think you could probably run the newer master cylinder with the old line and caliper, but as DTR830 said the newer caliper will not work.

If I remember right, you can adjust the 1998 lever outward so it doesn't bottom out on your knuckles. Use the adjuster nuts on each side of the lever. They sandwich the lever where the plunger runs through it. Just turn them in the direction that moves the lever away from the bar.

He is talking only about the master cylinder? They both use a 7/8" clamp so he should be just fine. Although, I would use a 07+ Honda one. I have a couple Honda MC's around that I put on whatever brand I own at the time as they work better..............(only referring to other Japanese brands not KTM)

07+ Honda MC and reroute the brake line so it doesn't go under fork leg using a Honda or stainless steel braided line and you will be loving life.............

and yeah im just talking about the Master Cylinder with a 98 caliper.

What are the reasons why people use the Honda one? This is not the first time ive heard about their Master being an "upgrade"

I don't think I have any detailed pics. They look pretty much identical except on the Honda the line connects on the back of MC instead of front. The 07+ Honda MC just works better than any other Japanese brand from my experience. Better feel at lever and stronger braking...............plus I prefer the feel of Honda levers.....
