I was cleaning my bike Sunday. Cleaned the air filters as usual with oxy clean. I was out of shout and made a mix of oxy clean and dawn. Got bored today and was looking up what all uses oxy clean has. Apparently it’s not good for metals. I finished them pretty good and coated all the metal with wd-40 then sc1. Has anyone used this on the whole bike before?
Mr Clean (original lemon) is what I have used for over 30 years. Spray the mud off, spray full-strength Mr Clean all over the bike. Let it sit for 10 or so minutes, then spray it off. Bike is spotless.
It has been much harder to get thanks to the Covid hoarding.
Once you try shout you will never go back.

Brand new set of RG3 A-Kit Showas ($9,750 out the door) for the race bike, was ready for the first bike wash after being built. Went to mix the ZEP cleaner that the rider brought with him and he stops me and said he already diluted it prior to me working for him. It was in an unlabeled 5 gal container that you could not see through. I pumped out 1/2 gallon into a 1 gallon translucent sprayer, which made the contents look very light purple in color as you would expect.
I didn't question him and gave the whole bike a liberal coat of what I though was the diluted ZEP. Turns it, it had not been diluted at all and it was straight up 5 gallons of industrial strength (commercial grade) concentrate. I didn't figure this out until I washed the bike and couldn't get the stains of the fork uppers and clamps. Thought it was hard water buildup, turns out it had etched the anodizing in the time it took to thoroughly cover the bike, set the sprayer down, and then rinse off....maybe 3 mins total.
I was heated, to say the least.
Moral of the story...I have never messed around with cleaners since that day. It's not worth it. Dawn dish soap and various scrubbing techniques are all that's needed.
Most recent experiment has been the Suzuki Ecstar cleaner and so far its pretty comparable to 505.
Most worthless waste of money has been Maxima Biowash.
I use a mixture of Shout and regular car wash soap. I fill a bucket just like a would to wash a car with the soap/water. Then I spray down the entire bike with Shout and wash with the soap/water solution.
I was turned on to the Shout by guys here, and so far it seems to be working great, with no side effects.
It's keeping my Husky white, and it also makes my grips look like new.
