I was cleaning my bike Sunday. Cleaned the air filters as usual with oxy clean. I was out of shout and made a mix of oxy clean and dawn. Got bored today and was looking up what all uses oxy clean has. Apparently it’s not good for metals. I finished them pretty good and coated all the metal with wd-40 then sc1. Has anyone used this on the whole bike before?

Simple Green for the bike, won't harm the metals and does a great job. I mix it 50/50 but you can use full strength if you want. Hit it and let sit for a minute or two then rinse off with a strong stream of water. I use a pressure washer. OXY Clean is Way more expensive. Plus Simple Green is Non toxic and Bio degradable

I would keep SimpleGreen away from aluminum. It WILL etch aluminum if left on too long.
Mr Clean (original lemon) is what I have used for over 30 years. Spray the mud off, spray full-strength Mr Clean all over the bike. Let it sit for 10 or so minutes, then spray it off. Bike is spotless.

It has been much harder to get thanks to the Covid hoarding.

Simple green does dull the bike over time.

Once you try shout you will never go back.

I stay away from simple green due to how it oxidized a previous bike over time. So far so good on the oxy clean but definitely not going to try it again even though it did shine the bike up pretty good

Proof is in the pudding. I use a garden sprayer and mix it 50/50 with water. I was skeptical until I tried it. Amazed.

Shout works amazingly well. I tried it years ago and I'll never go back. Cheap and easy to find. My second choice would be Mr. Clean. The good news is Shout isn't being hoarded like Mr. Clean or shitter paper due to Covid.

Have you seen shout ever damage your bike in any way?

If it is safe for delicate fabrics, it's safe for metal. I can get a bottle for 3 bucks at Home Depot, and works great.

One year I was working as a privateer mechanic, good guy but not the sharpest tool in the shed...

Brand new set of RG3 A-Kit Showas ($9,750 out the door) for the race bike, was ready for the first bike wash after being built. Went to mix the ZEP cleaner that the rider brought with him and he stops me and said he already diluted it prior to me working for him. It was in an unlabeled 5 gal container that you could not see through. I pumped out 1/2 gallon into a 1 gallon translucent sprayer, which made the contents look very light purple in color as you would expect.

I didn't question him and gave the whole bike a liberal coat of what I though was the diluted ZEP. Turns it, it had not been diluted at all and it was straight up 5 gallons of industrial strength (commercial grade) concentrate. I didn't figure this out until I washed the bike and couldn't get the stains of the fork uppers and clamps. Thought it was hard water buildup, turns out it had etched the anodizing in the time it took to thoroughly cover the bike, set the sprayer down, and then rinse off....maybe 3 mins total.

I was heated, to say the least.

Moral of the story...I have never messed around with cleaners since that day. It's not worth it. Dawn dish soap and various scrubbing techniques are all that's needed.

$10 pink carwash soap from AutoZone. It's awesome stuff and makes my bike smell like watermelon candy. I can't believe it's legal in California.

I used to use simple green, then realized after some time the aluminum on my bikes would become quite dull compared to a new bike and also saw guys on here saying the same thing and that shout is where it’s at. On my 19 350 I pretty much used nothing but shout, the aluminum kept its shine noticeably better than my bikes before ! Been having trouble finding it lately so I’ve resorted to equivalent generic brands here and there

Shout works great on dirt but doesn't do squat to cut through grease, chain lube, etc. A bit of degreaser in those areas before using Shout on the whole bike works really well.

Can't believe no one mentions Zep 505. Been using it for about 6 years and it is really good. I keep reading about Shout or Mr Clean and have tried each multiple times but just not impressed.

Most recent experiment has been the Suzuki Ecstar cleaner and so far its pretty comparable to 505.

Most worthless waste of money has been Maxima Biowash.

Shout works great. I had to order it from Amazon since that seems to be a popular item now. Checked a couple wal marts and grocery stores and couldnt find any.

Simple Green will etch anodizing.

I use a mixture of Shout and regular car wash soap. I fill a bucket just like a would to wash a car with the soap/water. Then I spray down the entire bike with Shout and wash with the soap/water solution.

I was turned on to the Shout by guys here, and so far it seems to be working great, with no side effects.

It's keeping my Husky white, and it also makes my grips look like new.

I use diluted Jungle Jake same as SG if rinsed in a timely manner does no damage or etching. The sun does more damage than Jungle Jake ever would do IMO.

A cap full of laundry detergent/water in a 1 gallon sprayer. Best bike cleaner I have ever used.

Does anybody remember Dirt Squirt? Was literally the best shit ever but like all good things, it came to an end. I've used most of what people have recommended on here and none of it held a candle to dirt squirt..

Eagle Grit Powersports wash! 👍🏻 Ph neutral, great degreaser, and will not dull Aluminum or corrode connectors.

I go full strength. Use it on your boots and gear too. If you look at the hubs on a new ktm that start out shiny, you can tell the people who use simple green, their hubs get really dull and faded. My hubs are still shiny and brand new looking after a year with shout. Been using it for about 7-8 yrs and never had an issue.
