Sooo I bought a leftover 2018 KX250F recently, which is a step down from the 15' KX450F i was riding. I love the bikes chasis and cornering ability, but am struggling to get the forks where i would like them. What i notice most is they are harsh in the small/medium braking bumps, and the accleration bumps coming out of corners. They also bottom to easily on larger jumps.

I am on the larger end of 250 riders, 6' 3" 195lbs, so I know the immediate answer is get them resprung, and revalved (this is coming but i would like to get at least 20 hours on them as feedback to my suspension guy).

I've tried bumping the compression up a couple clicks, then the preload. However it doesnt seem to be having the desired effect.

no thanks, I got off my 15' KX450F partly due to the SFF TAC forks being the biggest pain in the ass.

Its the preload. Set it to the softest, max. 4 clicks in. Trust me, it will most likely solve your problem. Worked great on my KX250F 2015.

Take preload adjuster and let all the way soft, and go back in 15 clicks. Comp 10 reb 14 try that.

The coating on the forktubes on 15-18 Kxf 250 and 450 are no good. It chips inside the outertube and gets the oil very dirty quick and that makes the forks harsh. I got new outertubes from kawi om warranty after 10 hours on my 16, 15 hours later it was the same. I would coat the outertubes or get another fork.
