Why???
It's appealing to some looking for more torque due to displacement over a 250 2t, yet more manageable than a CR500. It falls in between the 2.

Probably the same reason KTM makes a 300 2t.

Go buy a ktm then. You know it works and will work for ever.. a kit that some “dude” makes doesn’t sound like it would work.. why not make it a 350 then?

I have a 1990 CR250 that had a sleeve put in to make it 310cc, Some company called Kustom Kraft did it.

IMO it was a real piece of shit. The workmanship was poor. The power valves were cut down to "fit". Which they didn't. It moved the power all down low and lost all of its top end power. It felt like a super slow 500.

Needless to say it now has a stock jug to take it back to 250cc.

I already have enough bikes and don't want to buy another
But as H4L said its the inbetween bike
Was out of curiosity if anyone had made a decent kit that was bolt on instead of having to machine up any part of my engine
Wanted to keep the 250 parts so I can put it back together later on
A 300 is more suited to my riding style being bush and desert
Plus how cool would it be to be riding a cr300 haha

This is not a sleeve. It's an actual cyl. / head + piston he produces.

Have a 273 07 from two stroke performance,it’s a 265 with a Ktm rod with a spacer, nice power and a 54 dyno that I got done on his dyno, wasn’t cheap but is nice to ride with a broad spread of power,my 2cents,not 300 but close.

I've ridden the new orange / white KTM's & wasn't impressed. Not everybody is going think they "will work for ever"...

For some it's good to know there are options for the CR to get a bigger bore. I'm contemplating picking up a 325cc kit when they become available. I'll let you know how it runs if I go that route...

You may want to speak to some reputable engine builders on doing a big bore on that motor. Many I’ve talked with said the big bore on the CR’s makes them worse, and it did for mine. Eric Gorr did a 265 on my 06 and it was a turd. Went back to the stock bore with head work from PR2 and it was much better.

EG doesn't have the best reputation as an engine tuner. I've never understood why someone would go through the hassle of only going 15cc's bigger on an engine with really not much to gain. The other hassle would be having to buy a special piston that is not readily available like the standard bore.
The CR250 can be tuned to run really good in the hands of a good engine tuner.
I can see someone looking for a little extra torque by going to a 300cc kit though.
