anyone know the specifics on the tool or technique needed to properly install the "blind rivet nut" on the newer generation (16-18) KTM subframes?

Got a pic of what you are talking about? Most body shops will have a riv-nut installer for 5 and 6 mm, maybe 8mm rivet nuts.
