Need rear shock help!

Edited Date/Time 1/20/2020 2:02pm
I was rebuilding the rear shock and the threads on the shaft are messed up. The nut will not tighten. I thought about taking it to a machine shop in the morning. Any ideas?

Maybe a machinist could weld, turn and thread it. A costly repair for sure, using a machinist. Would a roll pin through the nut and shaft hold?

Get a new shock shaft. If this comes apart while you are riding the results could be disastrous.

If this is for his 95 CR250 then you can't get a new one.

I had that happen to an older RM I was restoring. I properly ground the peening off, but on removal the threads simply crumbled off the shaft.

I took it to a machine shop and they fixed it up no problem, looked better than new.

I am going to look for another shock. Hopefully the shaft will be fine on it. Yes it is for a 1995 CR250.
