Picking up a 2019 CRF250R tomorrow from a local dealer! My first brand new 4 stroke, and my first EFI bike altogether. Any tips on breaking it in? I’ve found literally 6 different styles of breaking in a 4 stroke bike, and was just trying to figure out a consensus. I figure the owners manual has something in it I’m sure, but just wanted to hear everyone’s opinion.

I just run it. The bike most likely has been started at the factory and at the dealer already.

Just change the oil after the first ride.

Just make sure you warm it up properly then simply ride it normally(not like a flog).

30mins of soft riding and then let it rip.

I usually do a few heat cycles, ride it once, then change the oil.

I have always done what the manual says for break in. No problems yet, every bike has made it 50+ hours.

Agreed.

Roll it out of the trailer. Ride it to the track entrance. It's now broken in and you can ride it like you normally would. Tongue

X2. ride that thing for like 15 minutes, then let her eat. Change the oil and filter after and you'll be golden. Manufacturer breakin recommendations are overly cautious.

I do 1/2 throttle mid rpms for 20, then let it cool. 3/4 throttle, don’t hit the rev limit for 20, let it cool. Ride almost full speed but no rev limit for 20. Change oil and oil filter. This is what’s in the Yamaha manual. Honestly though who really knows what’s best. I’d just lay off the rev limit and not go full throttle for at least a solid moto.

Thanks guys! I figure I’m just gonna do one heat cycle before riding, one slower Moto, then let ‘er eat. First new new bike so I just wanted to be careful to make it last as long as possible!

I just always take it easy for 15 minutes let it cool then take it easy for another 15 minutes and let it cool again. Then no more than half throttle for 30 minutes and then I change the oil and ride it how I normally would. But no matter what I always change the oil before I ride it hard.
