Forgot to add the copper washer when i installed my new drain bolt so it leaks a little bit. Is there anyway to remove the drain bolt without draining my brand new oil i just put in? Thought of laying it over on its side but which side so i lose barely any oil?

Remove the bolt fast and plug it with your finger. Or drain the oil into a clean container and put it back in.

Lay the bike over on the clutch side and remove the drain bolt. That's what I would do, at least. If I have to lean it over and it has a full tank of gas, I'll usually pinch the fuel vent tube with a pair of vise grips so it doesn't piss fuel everywhere.

I still have the oil bottles in the trash. Either do that or lay it over

Why? I just put new oil in it and rode it around the yard one time. Bought a copper washer though.

Ill be sure to write your username on my death note lmfao. Nothing beats watching a guy try to eat chicken wings he fried in motor oil on youtube though.

drain into a container and re use or just add new fluid. Its not rocket science. Your not draining gold out of the motor.

Do this, quick and easy.

Ride it with the small leak (it can be leaking that much can it?) and just replace the washer after your next ride.

lean it and be quick

top off after you are done

PLEASE use a torque wrench. No need to crank on those drain bolts.

it's not a good idea to use a torque wrench due to the threads being lubricated as all torque specs are for dry threads
Unless your doing it at less than manufacturers spec?
I've always done mine by feel

I'm sure the manufacturers take this into account when they put the torque specs in the manual. KTM/Husky for example are only 15 ft/lbs on drain plug and 11 ft/lbs on screens.

Never had an issue

However mates have with torque wrenches....

So your saying that would be a higher torque setting than 15nm without oil?

Yeah, wet or dry, it should keep someone from doing way too much.
