Just made the switch to a 2019 yz250f (absolutely love it!!). Just put the first couple of hours on it with standard and TwinAir filters (not the superflow ones) and didn't have any problems, (yet?). Don't trust it 100% mentally with reading some reviews. The rides were in pretty good conditions... Just training, no races and almost no dust.
Zero issues ever. Changed the battery only because others had issues and we were trying for LL’s.
Mobil1 10-40 motorcycle oil every 5 hours.
Never had any dirt past the air filter, it’s not that difficult. Used Twin Air and Bel Ray exclusively.

I’m an engine guy, and oil temp is paramount in my business, so I got her warmed up the best I could.
Stock map, just dark out.

Pit Row
It’s best when ambient is 32°f or higher.
They have caution lights and haven’t ever seen any big crashes.

More plushier and easier to ride.....
I have a spare set of stock 2019 YZ450F wheels, do people run a 2.15 rear rim on 250F bikes or is that a big "no-no"?
As for the mapping, i actually prefer the stock Hard Hitting rather than Keefer Free Feeling. I thought that i lost a tad too much of the low and mid range with the Free Feeling map. But the track that i have been on is a technical and relatively slow one. So i'll try the Free Feeling map again when i ride a faster and more open track.
I also installed the Twin Air Powerflow kit yesterday but i haven't tried it yet. Maybe the Free Feeling map works better with it? Other engine performance parts will be a full FMF or Akrapovic exhaust system but that is something that i'll get in the spring.
I will also move over my Xtrig ROCS clamps and Öhlins Flow shock from my old 450.
I'm so happy that i went for the 250 over the new 450, it is so much more fun to ride the smaller bike and you can ride 100% for longer. I'm also faster on it compared to the 450.
4 hours on the bike right now. I didn't feel like the powerflow kit had any gains in the bottom and mid range of the powercurve (except maybe a bit quicker to rev up?) but it did feel like the bike was able to pull longer in the high rpms before going to a gear higher. It is a must-have on these bikes since it seals the airbox better.
I rode two days in a row on a fast, semi deep sand track that was is rough shape (no maintenance in 3 weeks) and i managed to put in 25-30 minute motos with very consistent laptimes. And i'm significantly (we are talking multiple seconds per lap) faster on the 250 compared to the 450, it is so much easier to corner this bike.
I still haven't tested the clamps and the Öhlins shock.
