Vital's Take: Tristan Charboneau announced that he is stepping away from professional racing today on Instagram. Tristan turned pro here in the U.S. with GEICO Honda in 2016, before heading over to Europe and racing there for a couple of years. You can find his full post below–it's well worth the read.

Absolute shame.

I still don’t know what the reason was that Geico let him go....if memory serves he podiumed a Moto at hangtown and had the most points of any geico rider until he got hurt.

It's the reason that's listed in his own response to his racing career. The team saw that he wasn't putting the effort in and decided to part ways. They had him for a couple years as an amateur and with their crew tried to get him to commit but...well, his own posts explains it.

He admitted he put in a 1/2 ass effort off the track - essentially he admitted he was NOT a actual pro athlete

- don't you think the team management and staff could see this reality?
