Vital MX Hot Shot: Atlanta Lites Start

Mike Alessi (800) gets the jump in the main event, and the eventual winner, Ryan Dungey (62) shows off his brake control heading into the first turn. Click the image to the left for a jumbo-sized version.

After the action subsided in Atlanta, we spoke with Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey, who mentioned, "The start was good, I was on the inside and got the jump on a bunch of guys, but then they started coming in on me from the outside, and I hit the brakes and thought I was going to go down…clip Sipes and highside it, but I think I was doing a nose wheelie for like 20 feet. The front brake was on, man."

As you can see from the photo, he wasn't stretching the truth. There's clearance under that back tire that a road racer would envy. Very cool.
