Living The Madness In Sin City - MEC Race Report

Livingston, CA. (October 17, 2017) - The 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Team team was back to racing this weekend at in Las Vegas.  At the MEC, in a departure from the team's traditional 250 SX program, riders Justin Hoeft would race a YZ450F and Supermini rider Hunter Cross got his shot under the lights racing the YZ85 the Supermini class.

The unique Three-Moto format of the Cup Class gives riders three chances at a $1 Million cash prize. Justin Hoeft, a 450 Supercross rookie, took on the world's best in the Cup Class and rode a consistent night with 11-11-12 moto finishes. His veteran-like riding showed patience and composure, even managing to stay on his bike despite a mid-air collision with Justin Bogle that wretched his hand, bent his bars and tore off his side plate. When the stakes were high he never folded. Hoeft would finish 11th overall on the night, the top Yamaha rider in the field.

"Tonight was another step in the right direction," Hoeft mentioned after the race. "I've never actually raced a 450 in Supercross, so to finish just outside a top 10 is really exciting for me. The whole 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Team did an awesome job helping me with bike set up and really made me feel comfortable all day."

Hunter Cross raced against the fastest Supermini racers in the world on Saturday night and rode like a pro during his first time under the lights at Sam Boyd Stadium. He piloted his 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha YZ85 Supermini to 10-7 finishes, ultimately landing 8th overall.

We look forward to carrying this momentum into the off-season as we work on our program for the 2018 season. The 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha Team would like to thank all of our dedicated team sponsors who help make this possible. #LiveTheMadness
