Baggett 7th, Millsaps 8th in Vegas SX Finale | Team RMATV/MC-KTM-WPS Race Report

Payson, UT (May 9, 2017) – Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS headed to the bright lights of Las Vegas, NV, for the season finale of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross series inside Sam Boyd Stadium. Both team riders were on the gas this past Saturday, as both Davi Millsaps and Blake Baggett charged to top ten finishes.

Blake Baggett: 7thPlace (450SX)

Blake Baggettlaunched out of the gate in attack mode in his heat race and rounded the first turn in 3rdplace. As Engine Ice kept his KTM Factory Services race engine at max power, Blake set his sight on the lead. He hit his marks perfectly every lap and made the pass for the lead. After a hard-fought battle, Blake took over the lead. He took the checkered flag in his second career heat race win.

In the main and with the superior traction of Dunlop tires, Blake put the power to the ground and started the race in second place. His speed was impressive as he held down 4thplace for most of the main event. Blake’s night changed as a slight bobble sent him to the ground. He recovered and battled back up to 7thplace by the checkered flag. His finish secured him 6thplace in the championship points.

“I felt good tonight,” said Blake. “The track was fast, and it suited me well out there. I want to thank the team for all their hard work this season. We are now looking forward to the outdoor season.”

Davi Millsaps: 8thPlace (450SX)

Davi Millsapscame out of the gate focused in his heat race, taking the early lead before the end of lap one. Davi continued to control the pace of the race at the front until a slight mistake sent him to the ground. He remounted but had to race the semi to make the main. In the semi, Davi once again found himself at the front of the pack. His ride was looking good until coming in hot after the long straight and off the track. Davi rejoined the race outside the top ten and then mounted a charge through the field climbing to 5that the checkered flag to secure a spot in the main.

In the main event, Davi launched out of the gate for the last time in the 2017 supercross season and found himself inside the top ten after lap one. From there, he rode a solid race, battling up through the pack to finish the night in 8thplace and finishing the season in 5thplace in championship points.

“I felt strong tonight,” said Davi. “My starts were on point, and I was fast on this track. I’m pumped with my performance and excited to finish the season 5thin points. Thanks goes out to the whole team for all the hard work and support this season.”

Dakota Alix (250SX)

After sitting out last week, Dakota Alix took to the gate to finish the 250SX East season. He looked smooth during the 250SX East heat race, securing a transfer spot by finishing 7th. In the main, Alix’s night came to an end as he got caught up in a first-turn pileup.

With the end of the supercross season, Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM-WPS will now switch gears and prepare for the start of the Outdoor Championship at Hangtown on May 20th.
