Brayton and Pirelli SCORPION MX Take SX1 Win At Jimboomba Australian Supercross

JIMBOOMBA, Queensland Australia (September 20, 2016) – The first round of the Australian Supercross Championship has been run and won, with Iowa rider and long-time Pirelli racer Justin Brayton securing the round 1 win on his Honda CRF450 in front of a big crowd at Jimboomba.  In conditions that ended up hard packed, slick and slippery, Brayton showed the performance available from the Scorpion MX32 Pro 110/90-19 rear tire in conjunction with the new 80/100-21 SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Hard front tire, to take the 20-lap Main Event win.

Brayton also won his heat race, while also recording the fastest race lap time in the main with an impressive 48.98 lap.

Pirelli riders filled many of the top positions on the night in the SX1 class, with Todd Waters (Wilsons Cool Air Motul Suzuki) 4th using the Scorpion MX32 front and Scorpion MX32 Pro rear, with Will Hahn 5th (NPE Monster Energy Kawasaki) and teammate Kade Mosig in 6th.

In the SX2 class, Gavin Faith also took the Main Event win using the same tire combination from Pirelli, with the Scorpion MX32 front and Scorpion MX32 Pro rear also serving as the tire of choice for many privateer riders in the SX2 class en route to top-10 finishes.

Don Nicholas – Product Manager Link International “Congratulations to Justin and Gavin on their respective wins tonight. Justin has worked with the Pirelli Team in the US for many years and been part of the development of the new Scorpion MX32 Pro range, so we are very happy for him to take this win in the first round of our Australian Championship. It’s great to see strong results for the teams and riders who choose to race with us at Pirelli and we look forward to working hard with all riders at the rounds ahead for the best results possible.”

The Australian Supercross Championship now moves to round 2 at Toowoomba on 14 October.
