Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha Thunder Valley MX Race Recap

The AMA Motocross Championships rolled into the beautiful state of Colorado to attend round five at Thunder Valley MX Park. Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha was their with a huge presence, fielding our four man team comprised of #35 Broc Tickle, #52 Matt Lemoine, #82 Jake Moss, and #99 Wil Hahn. For the first time in the sports history an outdoor national was held under lights on a Saturday night, combined with altitude the race brought new elements and possibilities to MX racings future.

Finding the form he produced earlier in the series, was Lemoine who dug deep and took control of his outcome. The first moto was a trying one at that, Lemoine started 9th, then after a few less fortunate moments he fell back as far as 14th, but rallied back to 10th, even moving forward on the very last lap. In moto two Lemoine’s start didn’t pan out to his liking, with him in 12th, however he put on a brilliant charge right till the bitter end, and came away with a 5th, netting 6th overall on the night.

Hahn started moto one mid pack in 17th, climbed the charts briefly, then just as quick he stumbled way back only to finish back where he began in 17th. Another bad start in moto two, 16th, Hahn would have a similar race, where he slid back a bit, but rose up in the later stages to capture 15th position, taking home a matching 15th overall.

The quiet presence of Tickle could be felt, starting 25th in moto one, the North Carolina resident found his usual contending speed a little too late, and only mustered up an 20th finishing position. Moto two was a carbon copy, as he started 25th, but Tickle used his smooth, steady approach and made his way up to 16th, salvaging 20th overall.

Moss had a consistent race, though his consistency was not where he usually lands on the results page. For the Aussie moto one began with him in 18th, from there Moss maintained his composure and notched the same finish as his first lap. Jake’s second part of his tally had him sitting 19th, unfortunately early in moto two a crash was all that was needed to hamper his destiny, leaving a finish of only 18th once gain and a 21st overall.

Star Racing extends a great deal of gratitude to our sponsors.
