Double Victory for Pirelli at the MXGP of Italy in Faenza

Jeffrey Herlings Sweeps the MXGP Class and Continues to Lead the Championship, While Maxime Renaux Takes a First-Career Win in the MX2 Class. Tom Vialle Keeps Hold of the MX2 Red Plate

FAENZA, Italy (September 6, 2020) – The Monte Coralli circuit hosted the Grand Prix of Italy, the sixth round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship and the first of three consecutive races that will be held on the spectacular Italian track. The Faenza-based course is largely hard-packed with a soft surface in places which can be extremely slippery. Pirelli riders were able to rely on the fantastic performance of the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rear tires. These products offered good traction combined with very limited wear allowing Pirelli to sweep the overall podiums in both classes.

There was an excellent second place finish by Jeremy Seewer who ended both heats behind Herlings. The third step of the podium belonged to Antonio Cairoli who also climbed to second position in the championship standings, passing Tim Gajser. The reigning champion was sixth overall behind Jorge Prado.

Second in race one behind Jago GeertsRenaux dominated the final race and moved up to third in the championship. Geerts finished in second position ahead of Tom Vialle. The Frenchman is still first in the standings but Geerts has reduced his advantage to just three points.
