Pirelli Riders Shine at the Final Round of the “International d’ Italia of Motocross 2017” in Ottobiano

Jeremy Van Horebeek (MX1) and Antonio Cairoli (Elite) Emerge Victorious. Jorge Prado is Crowned New MX2 Champion, While Cairoli Wins MX1 and Elite Championships

OTTOBIANO, Italy (February 13, 2017) – Ottobiano’s "South Milan Circuit" hosted the third and final round of the "International d’ Italia of Motocross 2017" this past weekend. On the deep sand that characterizes the Italian track, Pirelli’s riders entrusted in the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid-Soft front and SCORPION™ MX Soft rear. The tires proved to be unbeatable and allowed the Italian brand to get the top spot in MX1MX2 and Elite championships.

Jeremy Van Horebeek raced to the victory in the MX1 class. The Belgian rider nailed a great start and left his opponents behind, maintaining the number one spot until the finish. Antonio Cairoli used an excellent ride to grab the runner-up position and overall title. Third position in the race and in the championship went to the Russian Evgeny Bobryshev.

In the MX2 class, it was a great day for Jorge Prado who placed second, which ultimately secured the championship for the young Spaniard. Samuele Bernardini was very fast, competitive, and finally free of the bad luck of the previous races and finished in third.

Antonio Cairoli dominated the Elite class in front of his home country crowd. The eight-time world champion started in second position during the opening laps and was able to make the pass and pull away from early race leader Jeremy Van Horebeek. The Belgian finished in second, just ahead of José Butron in third. 2015 World Champion Romain Febvre was fourth, which was good enough for third overall in the championship standings.

Pirelli also claimed the victory in the 125 division thanks to the double moto victory of Mikkel Haarup.

After completing the "International d’ Italia of Motocross 2017", riders and teams are in full preparation for the first round of the upcoming Motocross World Championship. The opening round will take place at the Losail circuit in Qatar on February 25th.
