The Kawasaki MXGP team is the only factory-level team that lets MXGP riders do their own gear deals now. While Febvre chose to stick with the same gear sponsors as the team had last year, Jeremy Seewer got creative and continued his relationship with Shoei helmets, carriers Monster as a personal sponsor, is running a Fox goggle with a custom strap, and working with Renen for custom gear. Speaking of keeping Monster as a personal sponsor, Glenn Coldenhoff stays with Monster as his Wilvo team moves from being the Factory Yamaha MXGP effort to Fantic racing's first big effort into MXGP. Juan Pablo

As mentioned above, the Wilvo operation who has been operating as Yamaha's factory MXGP effort since Rinaldi stepped back has swapped for 2024. After being cut by Yamaha, the operation ended up on a bike they have a lot of experience with... A Yamaha with different plastics! A Fantic. Juan Pablo

The bike features many of the same parts the team ran as the factory Yamaha effort last year, but they also gained some freedoms. Juan Pablo

It's interesting to see the Fantic using a Nissin hydraulic clutch instead of the Brembo unit that Yamaha uses. Juan Pablo

Hutten Metaal Racing, who ran Yamaha's EMX250 program, has no moved to MX2 to take over Kemea's vacant seat. Juan Pablo

MXGP and MX2 team gear deals are a bit odd. Hutten Metaal inherited Kemea's TLD gear deal for the MX2 team, while Kemea inherited the Alpinestars gear deal that Wilvo had for the MXGP class Yamaha effort. Juan Pablo

So he was demoted to the white plate for Sunday's racing action but then left the weekend with the red plate again after both motos. Changing plates mid-weekend is just ridiculous on MXGP's part. Why? Juan Pablo
