What an AWESOME opening ceremony with the guitar national anthem and the F-15 low flyby with afterburners! Best one I've ever seen there for sure. Any one else who was there please weigh in with your thoughts on it.

Here's one of the pilots who flew it.

So low and that bank was incredible. They fly outside of our offices daily in Boise but never that low. Thanks to whoever made that happen.

NAS Pensacola. Thunderbirds at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas.

I was outside the room when I heard them say there'd be an F-15 fly-by, so I popped in to see if they had it right. When it comes to military aircraft, TV guys (news people or otherwise) will call anything just about anything. Yeah, I knew there's an F-15C ANG wing based in Portland, but I still gave it the eye test.

Proud moment for sure, as an American and retired Air Force F-15 Crew Chief. On another note, Tomac was just on fire.

A ton of respect for those guy's, the requirement/ training they have to go through to earn their wings is insane...they're not normal, Cool I was grinning with pride with the fly-by, looked good for the sport also.

A little Top Gun theme thrown in too. Nice!

I was at the Long Beach Grand Prix earlier this year and a Raptor F22? came in low over the ocean and did an afterburner bank over the course. The crowd was just stunned. Such a gnarly demonstration of brute power and technology. I guess if you're around that a lot you get used to it but my ears are still ringing months later. lol Really something to see and feel.

Heard a loud roar in the shop at work last week and hopped outside to see what was buzzing over low. It wasn't low at all but looked like an F15 at about 10,000 ft WFO. Still lous as f'. It was pretty cool, freedom boner cool.

That is fantastic. One of my cousins and I use to play fighter planes together as kids. He'd always take the F-16 and I'd always take the F-15.

Some 20 years ago while on my way to the Mammoth Mtn MX, on hwy 395, an F-14 tomcat lowered itself down to about 150 ft or so and slowed way down to shadow me while I was driving my box van. For an instant, the pilot and I caught eye site with each other, and then he was gone. Problem was I was alone and couldn’t tell anyone. It was the best moment of the week.

Then Maverick felt a renewed need for speed.

In addition, the flyovers are considered a valuable recruitment tool..there is a shortage of pilots.

The free world can look at these flyovers as a critical part of their national defense ..

I'm kinda skeptical about any pilot shortage. We have nowhere near as many fighter wings as we did at the end of the Cold War, and with continued advances in precision munitions and increased reliance on RPAs (remotely piloted aircraft), fighter wings are much smaller than they once were. (With precision munitions and "stealth" technology, missions require far fewer aircraft to accomplish.) Where a standard fighter wing used to comprise three squadrons of 24 aircraft, now it's more likely to be two squadrons of 20, maybe more like two of 15.

Super proud.....I was an F15 avionics backshop technician during my time in the service and worked on just about everything in the cockpit as well as the Hughes APG70 radar system in the nose.

I was lucky enough to get 2 different incentive flights and both times they put me in an F16 instead of an F15. Still was a very cool experience.....pulled 8.4 Gs without the slightest bit of tunnel vision, greying out or outright passing out.

There was an F15 pilot that used to moto at Nellis during the Y2K time frame i met at the track at LVMS. . wonder if he's still riding or maybe even on this board.
