...do you folks choose, and why?

Any brands to avoid (and why)?

Mika is low key the top dog. All of their products are phenomenal. Plus they do huge sales on the holidays.

Cool feature is they do gold outer link and black rollers and inner links on their chains. It really makes the gold outer links POP.

Chain life has a direct link to maintenance. Keep it clean, lubed and adjusted. You can make one From McMaster Carr last a long time. Of course this goes 10 fold for a high end chain. Just my opinion ?‍♂️

Iron Man Dirt Tricks sprocket. RK GB520MXZ4 gold chain. Both are strong and last a long time. Plus the sprocket looks awesome.

I’ve been using them for years and always stock up on either a 50% code via hookit or their 40% sales. Can’t beat a full setup for what they get on sale and I’ve had great luck with all of their products. like with anything else on a bike maintenance is key. I keep them lubed up and get tons of time out of them. Aside from the 3 off-road races I did..... that ate them up quick.

Had renthal sprockets and did chain on my gsxr. 10k miles and they looked new when i sold it. Currently have primary drive steel sprockets and did gold chain on both of my kxs and i like them. Dont see a reason to spend more for sprockets.

Dirt tricks Zirconium sprockets with DID VT2 narrow x-ring chain. Lasts forever, and just slightly heavier than a standard chain with aluminum sprockets.

Another vote for Mika, Very high quality chain, after initial stretch mine just needs cleaned and lubed and lasts a long time with very few adjustments.

What is the general consensus on Sunstar, Tusk, Primary Drive, Turner, and others that don’t usually carry the huge price tag.

I’m potentially looking to buy a handful of sets but don’t want to go broke doing so.

Running TAG sprockets and a RK GB520MXU chain. I get an awesome discount for TAG stuff, so it makes the choice easy for me. Even easier that the quality and looks are there too!

Guess I’m old school, Renthal front and back and DID ERT gold on both the 450 and 250... work great and never had a problem in decades!

Dirt Tricks sprockets and a Primary Drive X-ring chain will last forever. Haven’t even adjusted mine since installation.

My last Mika X-Ring spit a bunch of rollers off in one season. Never had a chain do that before.

This is my setup on a 17 crf450. Also a tm designworks slider. The stock Honda design doesn't last 5 hours for me

The front sprocket usually is the weak link. Anyone had this experience?

You spend a whole lot of money on a fancy rear sprocket and chain that's supposedly more durable and then your front sprocket goes out in the same time that it normally does.

Has anyone replaced only one component before? What happened?

I've been running the Primary Drive Stuff for a few seasons now. I've been getting around 30hrs of sandy trails out of the O-ring chain and aluminum rear sprocket. You can buy 2 complete sets for the price of some of the competition's rear sprocket.
