What's the most current rule about claiming bikes at the ranch? I know a few years ago when RC raced he got rid of factory suspension because they were afraid someone was going to claim the bike.
This year there are some pretty trick bikes down there from the star, geico, and PC bikes all with A kit and everything else on them.

3. The claiming rule value is two times the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) at the National event.
Teams aren't going to claim another team's bikes. If you claim a team's bike, your possible future as a support/factory will be claimed by somebody else.

Guess the mfg honchos are busy at the Ranch and not scanning the Vital village.
A claiming thread pops up annually. And, annually, one of the insiders drops by to explain the unwritten agreement among the honchos to protect the bikes. Here's my recall: More than 1party can lodge a claim. If a claim is made, all honchos will submit a claim. There is a blind draw. More claims reduces the odds. Bike will be returned after the fact, and recompense will follow. I don't recall this unwritten agreement being confirmed by a honcho, but I have no reason to doubt it.
Personally, I would love to see mini-Dad's lodging claims like the early days of Cobra---fist fights and threats of lawsuits. Good times, man, good times.
The goal is to limit costs, because you wouldn't* spend $50,000 building a bike if anyone can buy it from you for $18,000. However nobody uses the claiming rule, so it doesn't have an effect. Those pro circuit bikes are worth alot more than 2X MSRP.
