I want some trick wide pegs for a 85 CR250? I rather not get the 25.00 cheapie Chinense ebay foot pegs although they would work. I want something that looks a little factory. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Yes late model KTM, You need to remove material from the frame mounts or I have seen you can also mod the peg by cutting a section from underneath to allow clearance to fold up, the clevis pin may need drilling out also, depends how flogged your frame is, I got upsized pins from my local bearing shop & new 86 springs from Stevie Denton.

You should be able to use stock 85 springs by drilling a hole in the Kato pegs but I needed new ones anyway so just went with 86, they work perfect & easier to fit.

Yep I fitted KTM pegs to my "84 CR500 (same as '85) just as Chris (Smed) did. Careful as there are different length KTM pegs; you need (want) the longer ones.

My 87 cr 250 took just regular YZ 450 pegs. I'm not sure if the 87 is the same as 85 model ?

The KTM pegs look good. YZ footpegs won't work. I believe the peg mounts on the frame changed between 85 and 86.

Yes, correct 84-85 pretty much the same saddle on the peg but with different spring setups between the 2, 86 on has conventional type saddle on the frame mounts.

I used 2015 yz450f pegs and springs on my 89 250 and they fit perfectly with no modification. Took 5 minutes to swap over and I found them on eBay for $40.

Edit: sorry didn’t see that yz pegs won’t work on your bike

I have '96 RM250 for my '85 CR250. I'll need to do a little bit of grinding either on the pegs or the frame mounting points. Don't really want to grind on the frame. Rather do the pegs. I just need to widen up the peg mounting bracket.

The KTM and YZ pegs look great. Kinda like bell bottoms and pulled up white socks with tight gym shorts I cant believe we used such skinny small foot pegs and thought nothing of it.
But aren't there pegs made that will fit without grinding or drilling? I have to think the mounts are the same as the 85 as the 83 bikes. I'm willing to drop a reasonable amount on quality parts. I don't want the Chinese 15.00 ebay pegs. But I'm digging the look of the KTM pegs. If there is a reason for me to take my Makita grinder to the frame, that would be it.
I have a fresh set of powder coated steel 04 YZ footpegs if anyone can use them on their old bike. No pins or springs

They’re also different from 86 to 87.

This is the other way of doing it with the Kato pegs to get the clearance to fold up
