Looking for opinions on the different systems that are avaliable for the orange and white siblings, more specifically the following: HGS, Yoshimura, Akrapovic, however thoughts on other brands are also interesting.

Even if you have the opinion that exhaust systems are useless on a 450 please say so and explain your thinking behind it, I am also happy to hear any advice on how to make the bike better in other areas.

What exactly are you wanting to know? As far as quality i can say pro circuit, yosh, and akro are all solid from my personal experience. They make the bikes quieter and give some more power. Whether its worth $1000 to you or not is your decision.

As far as making any bike better you start with suspension. $1000 in suspension is better than $1000 elsewhere by far.

Listen to Keefer's "Living With" podcast about the KTM. If I recall, there was a pretty detailed comparision between the FMF and Akropovic full system.

How different systems changed the bike, power delivery etc. I can snatch a full akrapovic system for around $600 second hand but I have heard that the stock one is actually better, the tests that are out on the pro circuit looks promising.

Should have stated it in the original post, I have Öhlins suspension so all set there.

Ah. Yea i cant say how different pipes affect your bike specifically. Ive got a PC pipe on my 450 and a yosh on my supersport and had an akrapovic on my old supersport.

That is why I asked for different opinions on the systems for two certain bikes, thanks anyway.

There is a reason you see so many with FMF systems

The stock pipe, especially the header takes a lot of beating, even on the dyno.

The only issue with the stock header, it's heavy but a major pain to remove

Can you please elaborate? To be honest I have not seen a single KTM or husky 450 with the full fmf system, might be more usual in the states.

Good looking bike btw, love the blue.

10 hp over stock with std pipe, lol.

Porting, compression and mapping only!

I personally have relied on FMF for many years because of the type of power they produce. But ...All the pipes have plus’s.

FMF is part of the major stand out KTM backed teams because the product works. Some of the Factory editions come stock with FMF.

I had FMF and HGS on my old 2014 SXF 450 and the HGS was better in my opinion. So i got a HGS exhaust on my 2017.

The stainless steel version is 250-300€ cheaper than the FMF.

For the other areas i can recommend that you buy a set of 22-24mm adjustable Xtrig ROCS clamps. The 24mm offset makes the bike a bit more stable(22 is stock).

Thank you for the suggestion, I have looked into the ROCS for a while now. Will most likely buy it if I can fit i into my budget on the build (will go up on the forums hopefully).

you need to work on your reading skills dude.

this engine is setup for higher altitude, mega compression and porting and the mapping to make it work.
