Features
• All-new engine: lighter, more compact with increased power across the entire rev range, the all-new 450cc engine maintains the previous YZ450FX model's exceptional pulling power and renowned ease-of-use, with revised ECU settings tailored to enhance low-end tractability and a 500 rpm higher rev limit for even more top-end power
• New exhaust and intake port shapes, larger diameter titanium intake valves, new piston, cylinder, crankshaft and balancer assembly, and a switch from wet sump to dry sump lubrication
• Redesigned aluminum bilateral beam frame with YZ450FX-specific front engine mounts provides just the right amount of strength and flex for the perfect balance of straight-line stability and cornering performance; the result is a better handling machine with lighter feel, more agility and increased traction, allowing the rider to tackle tight, technical trail sections with greater confidence
• All-new clutch design replaces the coil springs of the previous model with a new disc spring and integrates primary gear and basket into a single steel unit; the result is a more compact, lightweight and durable assembly which yields smooth engagement and excellent feel; premium clutch cover employs a stylish geometric design that helps minimize scratching and lends a bold look
• New wide-ratio five-speed transmission: all new tri-shaft transmission layout vertically stacks the transmission shafts, raising the center shaft and forming a triangle between the crank, drive shaft and main shaft for a lighter, more compact transmission; gear ratios are optimized for cross country conditions
• All-new Traction Control System communicates wheel slip to the ECU, tuning the engine to maintain ideal rear wheel traction; three levels can be selected: HIGH, LOW or OFF
• Adjustable Engine Maps: two-mode adjustable engine mapping allows the rider to adjust engine character with the push of a button, making it easy to make immediate adjustments to changing track or weather conditions
— Map 1: for fast, aggressive high-traction conditions
— Map 2: a smoother engine character for extreme, low-traction conditions
• New, lightweight handlebar-mounted switchgear
• New Yamaha Power Tuner App, revised to be even more user-friendly; new features include an intuitive “Simple Tuning” slide bar for engine mapping, three-level Traction Control, a lap timer, and helpful engine and suspension tuning guides
• Power Tuner App puts the flexibility and precision tunability of the GYTR Power Tuner into your smartphone: adjust air/fuel mixture and ignition timing maps instantly and upload them to the bike for ultimate track-side tuning; record race log information and monitor a range of data such as maintenance and system diagnosis, engine run time and more; wireless connectivity to the bike’s onboard CAN-bus network
• Revised suspension with toolless fork adjustment: fork now features a new hand operated compression clicker for simple, toolless adjustments and new fork covers to help prevent debris damage; front fork and rear shock settings are optimized for cross country competition; a 10mm lower seat height than the YZ450F provides a lower center of gravity for improved low-speed maneuverability
• Slimmer body and improved ergonomics: a new slimmer, flatter and more compact body eases rider movement for improved control, including more seamless, rounded features from seat edges and side covers to a more narrow fuel tank and front shroud; the rider triangle is also improved with increased legroom between the seat and footpegs, and revised handlebar position for a more natural posture and enhanced rider comfort
• Wide footpegs with new lightweight aluminum alloy mounting brackets
• Folding aluminum side stand
• Composite engine guard
• Fuel tank level warning indicator
Miscellaneous
• Cooling: liquid
• Engine: DOHC, 4 titanium valves
• Handlebar: 1 1/8" aluminum tapered; four-position adjustable handlebar clamp is rubber-mounted for comfort, reduced handlebar vibration and easily tunable bar position
