I wonder how many of these issues stem from people not putting on the triple clamps correctly. The KTM setup is a bit different in that it has the pinch bolt on the top clamp/stem and most others you just slide on the top clamp and torque the shit out of the stem nut.

Or, ride with the bearings too loose as well. Maintenance people!

There is a guy down here in southern cal that is a very big guy, most locals know who I'm talking about. The dude rips, I wonder if he has broken any of his KTMs? I've never seen one break in person so don't really think it's an issue.

Define regulary, how many frame snaps of the amount leaving the factories? It is a problem they need to fix but dont make it sound like it is 4 out of 5. I remember the old 96 honda cr 80 snapped on my cousing back in the 90s, i mean its nothing one brand specific. BUT ofc it is a bad deal and needs to be fixed. Plenty of Yamahas have cracked through the years. https://motocrossactionmag.com/ask-the-mxperts-my-yamahas-aluminum-fram…

My friend hasnt snapped, but cracked 3 frames on his -15 and -16 KTMs, he now rides a Yamaha and has cracked 3 engine casesLaughing Theres also a small kid (sub 100lbs) that has cracked 2 frames on his 125, and i see a couple more every now and then from friends on Facebook...
The problem exists, but last time i posted this in a thread here i got threatened by the orangemafia Tongue

I cracked my engine case on my KTM too, The manufactures needs to evaluate and correct the problem. In this particular case it seems like the 16 frame have been prone to "snap" but i just dont think it is prone to one brand only.

That sucks! Just curious, did all instances have the same type of failure in his case? Thanks

My kid cracked the front down tube on his KTM 65. Found it when stripping the frame to be powdercoated. I was kind of surprised as that's a beefy check of metal. He did like to go pretty big though.
My older boy also cracked quite a few YZ85 frames but I think that was mostly from fatigue.

Pings was triple clamps not frame IIRC?.............

Yes, I believe you're correct about Pingree - Pretty sure that's also the case from the Enslow clip, posted above.

Glad to hear KTM Rider #83 is alright! Can't begin to imagine the thoughts going through one's mind when this happens

I remember when the forks eventually bent out on our beat practice bikes.. We would turn them 180* and keep going. Never broke frames.

I guess all that pounding is getting pushed into the frames with these massive forks.

I wouldn't buy a KTM because IMO they are built to last one season of racing. No chance in hell I'd buy a 2nd hand KTM. They're right on the limit IMO, but where do they go from here. I can't see people being happy if the bikes gain weight in the future.

I had a 2007 CR125 and it had crack around the steering stem. Sent photos through to Honda and apparently they wear aware of the issue and had several other complaints with the same crack. they ended up sending out a new frame for me haha

I just cant believe KTM have had so many recalls every year on there bikes!!
